Innovating the Materials Petal in Affordable Housing [On Demand]

Those living in affordable housing are often most at risk for asthma, allergies, and other health concerns. This webinar will explore some of the ways that we build, where we build and what we build with contributes to these health risks. This webinar will also identify specific strategies for creating healthy homes that address long-standing, deep inequities associated with toxic risk and exposure. What does a successful healthy Materials plan look like in multi-family housing? What are the easiest materials to substitute that have the greatest positive health impacts? What is the Red List and how can it be used as a tool for improving resident and community health? These questions and more will be answered in this deep dive into the Living Building Challenge’s Materials Petal. Experts in the field of affordable housing will share their experiences in developing affordable housing projects with healthy materials. Specific strategies, tools, and lessons learned will be shared in order to make the process easier for others.
